It’s Simple.

There are dog foods out there that crowd the ingredient list with one thing after another. Typically the longer the list gets the less important each ingredient becomes. Zignature keeps it simple with no surprises. They focus on unique meat sources, a handful of healthy fiber and clean fat sources. As an example here’s a quick look at their kangaroo formula: kangaroo, kangaroo meal, chickpeas, peas, sunflower oil, dehydrated alfalfa meal, natural flavors, flaxseed, vitamins and minerals. These days pet owners are on the lookout for problematic ingredients like corn, and soy. Zignature makes it clear that these and others are not found in their food. Among the other avoided ingredients are potatoes, grains, chicken, eggs, and tapioca. It’s good peace of mind to know that you can feed a food that truly is chicken free.

Because of the limited ingredient list they can focus on the quality of what is included. Their meats are all coming from reputable sources and pass third party approval. Most of the Zignature formulas will use just one meat. For example the kangaroo formula is just kangaroo and kangaroo meal. Many companies will slip another meat like lamb further down the list.

A quick note on meal: In most cases meal is simply the ground and dried version of the protein referenced. Kangaroo meal is dried kangaroo meat and muscle that is ground into a powder. We often use the example of corn and cornmeal. Whole corn is full of moisture. Cornmeal is the same corn dried and ground to a powder.

Zignature is a good choice for dogs with allergies. Mainly because the list is so short, but also because they use novel proteins. The general theory is that dogs' bodies may react poorly to certain proteins. We often hear about dogs reacting poorly to chicken or corn. Some reactions you may notice are itchy skin, rashes, or runny eyes. If you think your dog might be reactive to an ingredient then typically the best course of action is to avoid those ingredients, hence novel proteins.

While Zignature has several formulas to choose from, we really like the kangaroo. Kangaroo is a lean meat with natural anti-inflammatory properties. It is a good source of CLA. Pet food nerd alert: CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) is often cited as supporting a healthy immune system and keeping the heart healthy, among other things. Additionally kangaroo is high in Omega-3 which is also good for the heart. Furthermore the kangaroo used by Zignauture is always free range and not treated with added hormones and antibiotics.

To put it simply Zignature can cure what ails your pup. Many of our customers claim that Zignature has helped remedy their dog of itchy skin, rashes and even improved mobility in some. We like to encourage customers to start with kangaroo but to explore the other formulas as they feel comfortable. There are so many good choices within the line like duck, lamb, turkey and salmon. Dogs love the flavors and you will love the results. Stop into Dolittle’s to learn more and get a FREE sample.
